Hello Heroes!

I returned home from GENCON late Monday evening (actually early Tuesday, but who is counting?). I had an amazing time meeting so many backers and playing Quodd Heroes with many of you!  Each day, I was there playing from from early in the day until 10pm. It was a blast but also exhausting. I feel like I've finally recovered enough energy after a few days back home and spending time with my children.  

Overall, I think people really really enjoyed the game, which is great to see and experience. During GENCON, we got several new late backers as a result of the demo games. Each time I taught the game, I set up different scenarios (some experimental). I focused on team and Overlord scenarios primarily during the week as I wanted to see how some of these played with 6 players.  During the backer meetup, we did a modified rally scenario involving collecting and dropping off some wandering sheep while racing to different parts of the board. It was a simple scenario, but I think it demonstrated the mechanics well and gave people a taste of the game. After that, some of us went out for food and drinks, which was also fun. Thank you, all who came by. It was great to meet and chat with all of you!

Now that I'm back home, we're heading into the final stretch. The big remaining hurdle is the rulebook. Writing and laying this out visually is a very important task! When explaining a game with so many brand new ideas, I want to be sure we get it right! I'll be keeping you guys in the loop with this process as much as I can because your feedback is essential in the process.

Delivery: I thought I had been pretty clear about the delays but apparently some of you are still expecting delivery in November. Sadly, this isn't possible at this point as we haven't yet sent the files off to Panda. Once this process actually begins, I will have a MUCH better idea of the delivery date.  At this point "early 2018" is my estimate. Look for that to firm up as soon as I get the files in the hands of the experts at Panda.

I will be doing a live stream next Tuesday morning, look for that to be scheduled soon.

Quodd Heroes Backer Meetup Update

Dear Heroes,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce the restaurant we booked made a mistake, and there wasn't actually a room booked for us at all. We've spent the past 2 days meeting up with people at various restaurants around the area, but to no avail. Gencon weekend is exceptionally busy for most restaurants, and many are simply not taking any reservations at all. However, we know you've all made plans, set aside time for the meetup, and are looking forward to playing Quodd Heroes. The meetup will happen as planned, with a slight change of location.

Let's meet outside Exhibit Hall D, near the information booth, at 7PM as planned.

 We'll order some food, use the table allocated to Quodd Heroes for the past 2 days, and the tables surrounding those, to play our games instead. We have, potentially, the capability to run 4 concurrent games of Quodd Heroes, some other games from Ryan's personal collection, and kid-friendly games for those who were planning to bring their children.

If you run into any problems at all, please use the Quodd Heroes facebook page to send us a direct message and we'll be able to help you out immediately. Don't worry if you don't have facebook, it's a public page, and all you need to do is navigate to "Send message" and we'll be able to receive your message.

We're really sorry about the sudden change of plans, and any inconveniences that might cause. We'll be outside Hall D tomorrow at 7PM sharp, and hope to see you all there!

Progress Report - Aug 8

Greetings, Heroes!  

I apologise for the less frequent updates as things are getting hectic.  

Preparations for GenCon are well underway – we’ve started on producing the new player boards, skill tiles, and player tiles! Here are some pictures from what we’ve done over the last week.  

Some of you are probably wondering why I'm putting so much effort into GENCON.  Well ultimately all of the hard work going into GENCON prep means that I'm getting the neccesary work done to get the game print ready ASAP.  So its a good thing!  For those of you able to make it out I definitely look forward to seeing you either at one of the play events at GENCON or at the backer gathering.

Some notes on GENCON events:  I have just put in a request to add 3 more events to the GENCON Quodd Heroes event schedule.  They will be thursday at 10pm, and 2 new events on Saturday.  Keep an eye out for those soon.  Hopefully they will be approved shortly.

This also means the two lucky backers who managed to snag the prototype pledges get prototypes with updated art and content!  

GENCON backer gathering:

The venue for the backer gathering has been finalized – it’ll be at the Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery Indianapolis, just a short walk away from the Indiana Convention Center. I’ve booked a private room that holds up to 60, so we’ll have more than enough space to eat, drink, and play some Quodd Heroes! I expect the turnout to be at around 40 people (I’ve included those who’ve said they’re bringing +1s in this number), so unfortunately, I don’t think everyone will be able to play as I’ll have limited copies of the game with me. However, I’ll be bringing some games from my personal collection, and everyone coming to the meetup is more than welcome to bring their own! To be fair, seats for Quodd Heroes games during the meetup will be on a first-come-first-served basis.

I'm hoping you arrive hungry and thirsty.  The restaurant has been kind enough to offer us the space so lets make it a party.  I plan to eat one of their delicious burgers and have a drink or two while we play Quodd Heroes!  

I’ll do my best to stream/post live updates from GenCon, but that will depend greatly on WiFi availability. I don’t expect to have time to post another update/do another live stream before leaving for GenCon, so the next one will happen in about 2 weeks. GenCon Backer Meetup

Hello, Heroes!

The Facebook event for the GenCon backer meetup is here! You can click on the "Going" button to indicate that you'll be coming. Those who don't have Facebook can send Ryan a message with your names and email addresses. =)

Please RSVP by the end of next Friday, August 4th, so we can decide on a location and make the booking over the weekend. Once that is done, we'll be sending out emails to all who've registered, as well as update the Facebook event.
