Hi Heroes,
Many of you have been asking for an update, so here it goes. Lots of work continues behind the scenes on all fronts. Lets get right into it!
Rulebook layout:
Matt and his team are progressing well on the rulebook layout, I have sent a bunch of changes and corrections to the latest iteration I was sent a little more than a week ago. I expect to see those updated early this week, at which point we are hopefully ready to do a final proofread and last rough of corrections before its considered final and ready for print. As I have mentioned in previous updates, I believe that the rulebook is the most critical piece of the puzzle in order for this game to be a success out in the world so I am working hard to make sure its great. Every update I feel the need to apologize for things taking longer than planned and I definitely feel the pressure from all of you to get this game out as soon as possible, but I can assure you that before it gets out the door, the rulebook will be as good as it can possibly be.
Artwork:
As I have mentioned before I've created new art or modified existing art for every single component in Quodd Heroes since the end of the Kickstarter, sometimes more than once.. (sigh). Most recently my efforts have been directed at the games MANY tokens. I have been assessing quality of life issues to make sure that the tokens are as easy to understand and use as possible, so this has included doing things like adding Trigger icons to any tokens that move / flip or rotate when a Trigger Event occurs, adding special details to the Start Zone respawn points to indicate to players where they place their heroes at the start of the game (without having to call it out in the scenario setup instruction). And many more visual changes, large and small to the game's tokens to make them look better and create a better experience for players in the game.
Here is a look at the punchboard and tokens:
Scenario Book:
Work on the scenario book continues on all fronts. I had a number of candidate scenario maps that needed to be be cut down to 8 for the final published game, and had finished the artwork for them all, and I have since decided one of those needed to be dropped in favor of a 2-player specific scenario which I really like (and think you guys will too). On top of that, the Pick-up-and Deliver scenario map is being overhauled based on recent feedback from testing, so those two scenario maps (#5 - rework and #8 finalize the art), will be wrapped up before mid-week this week.
In general terms the new format for the scenario book (foldout maps) is a huge upgrade for a number reasons, but one big drawback is that on some scenarios (such as 07 below) it leaves us very restricted in terms of how much room we have for text and instructions. That means testing and tweaking layout for worst-case scenarios where there is very little space but a need for more space. I think I've got that mostly figured out and will have the layour framework figured our and layout complete by the end of this coming week if everything goes as hoped.
Below you can see all 8 scenario maps with final artwork for 6 of the 8 and rough text and layout for all of them. Please do NOT send text corrections for any of this as I it is not the final text and in some cases is only placeholder text. One Big bonus you may notice is that on scenario maps with enough space I will be including a second printed scenario for that map (in addition to those you will find online through the QR code).

Talk to you soon and thanks for your continued support and patience,
Ryan
