Happy New Year Heroes!

Its been a little while since my last update due to holiday madness and lots of other goings on. I trust that all of you had a good holiday season and a game-filled New Year, I know I did!

First I'm sure all of you would like a production status update. According to the latest from Panda (as of this morning), Panda still intends to have production wrapped up before Chinese New Year. I really REALLY hope they can deliver on this. I have started coordinating with Panda and my fulfillment partners to arrange shipments once production is complete and with luck we will be on the high seas before February! This mean fulfillment can begin in March if the shipments get out of China on time.

Minis!

For those lucky few backers who backed at the Super-Limited-Edition level with hand-painted character minis, I have received the minis from the factory so that I can get started with painting. Here are some photos of all of the minis and crystals. There was a slight mixup with my request for these so I ended up with way too many miniatures. For those who will be receiving them, I will be sending you a note regarding the miniatures and will be sending the miniatures to you separately from the game itself. The games will ship from the fulfillment hubs as usual.

So many crystals!

I decided to try painting the base of one of the crystals just for fun. :)
I decided to try painting the base of one of the crystals just for fun. :)

As i begin refine my painting process and really get working I will be making videos outlining my process for each character. Remember that I'm not a pro or an expert miniature painter but I will do my best to explain how I go about painting them. :)

I hope to have an update soon showing the MPC (manufactured proof copy) for the game once it arrives. It still may be a week or more before it shows up according to Panda, which is later than I was originally promised. I can't wait to receive it!

As usual I very much appreciate your continued patience but I am more certain than ever than it will be well worth the wait!

Before I sign off I wanted to share a quick pic from "City: Genesis" a new game I'm working on to launch this year on Kickstarter. Its a city-building game with some real depth that will also have awesome minis and great components!

This is a proto map concept in low res and much smaller than it will be in the final game, will share more pics as development continues. I'm super excited about this concept!

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and I will update you guys as soon as I have any additional news (should be soon!)

Cheers!

Fab Friday Update - Print & Play is here!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Dec 07, 2018 at 10:44:40 PM

Hi Heroes!

I hope you have all had a great week! Its been a busy one for me working on new concepts and other non-gaming work. To finish the week off I decided to finally complete the files for a print and play. It contains almost everything in the game. You should be able to play every scenario in the core game except those featuring sheep.

A few notes regarding the print and play:

  • Files are setup for letter paper. (8.5x11) so take that into account if printing from place where a4 is the standard you may have to tweak settings.
  • The game boards are quite large so each board is spread across two pages. You will have to overlap the two sheets and attach them together to get the full square boards. Board are 9x9 squares and have been shrunk slightly from those that come in the physical game.
  • tokens should be printed on card stock and are intended to be double sided. With pages 1&2 being front and back, etc.

I hope some of you print it and give it a try, please send pics if you do!

Advent Calendar Colouring pages:

All week I have been posting new Quodd Heroes colouring pages that Nadine has been creating (some from scratch and some from existing artwork. Here is the dropbox folder that you can find them in and a few sample images:

Production Timeline:

I spoke to Panda about production timelines and here is what they said. They will be sending me a MPC (manufactured proof copy) in early January for approval then will wrap up production and get the game shipped off before the end of January, before the start of Chinese New Year! That means that delivery of the games to backers will begin in Early March. I wish it were sooner but having a pretty solid timeline (barring anything unforeseen) is great for a change!

Have a great weekend!

Fab Friday Update: Production Underway, New Inkwash, Christmas Adventure Coloring Pages!
over 5 years ago – Sat, Dec 01, 2018 at 01:01:22 AM

Hi Heroes,

Its been a few weeks since the last update but things have been moving along behind the scenes here. The first thing I want to share is a photo Panda sat of the revised Ink wash for all of the sheep and character Minis:

Ink Wash

I have approved this version. The interiors of Forest, Rok and Techsie are dark but I'm still happy with them overall. I think they look amazing!

Speaking of amazing, here is a photo of a couple bomb dice:

I couldn't be happier with the way the bomb dice and other components are coming together. I hope you like them too! Let me know what you think in the comments.

Also the good news is that Panda says they will be ready to ship everything before Chinese New Year so that is a HUGE relief.

Christmas Advent Colouring Pages!

A few weeks ago Nadine (backer) approached me about doing an advent calendar out of colouring pages with a Quodd Heroes theme. I thought this was an awesome idea since it combines two things I love colouring and Quodd Heroes!

I will be posting the high res images each day to social media and a bundle at the end of each week in a Kickstarter update so that I'm not posting annoying Kickstarter updates everyday until Christmas!

Without further ado here is the first colouring page:

Thanks so much for your continued patience and support!

Wicked Wednesday Update: Production Mini samples
over 5 years ago – Wed, Nov 14, 2018 at 10:23:51 PM

Hi Heroes!

I have something super cool to share with all of you.  Panda sent over photos of minis produced from the molds including ink wash. This is the first time we are seeing the crystals in the final state and I think they look amazing! We also get a first peek at what the ink wash will look like. In the photo the ink wash is definitely too heavy for my taste and they are aware of this. It will be redone in a lighter shade and sent along soon. Anyway here it is:

I hope you like how everything looks (minus the wash being too dark). At this point all of the files are in Panda's hands so I should have a pretty solid timeline from them very soon.

Essen ReCap:

Essen was amazing once again this year. We had so many people play stop by to say hi and check out the PPC! We also had almost 100 people stop by and play the game during the course of the convention and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. So many backers stopped by with kind words and encouragement and its always gratifying to hear that people are excited about the game and like what they see. I didn't really get to see very much of the show itself as I was fully engaged with demo sessions but once again it was a packed venue with so much excitement around board games. It really is an experience every board game enthusiast should experience at least once.

I also have to give a HUGE shout-out to the amazing volunteers who helped out at Spiel:

Jan, Kerstin, Marco, Nadine, Daniel and Ben were a huge and indispensable help! I cannot possibly thank you guys enough for all that you have done for me! I love you guys and I'm proud to call you all my friends! Some day I hope to be able to repay you as you deserve!

Translation into other languages: (other than English, German and French)

During the campaign and after I have talked about translating the rules into other languages besides those officially produced as part of the Kickstarter campaign. I have not moved on this to this point because I severely underestimated the complexity and time involved with this task. I am still very much open to having backer translation into other languages but this has to be handled in a way the the translators are also handling the files (InDesign) as I just don't have time to move translated text into its final form. If you have skills in this regard and are still interested in helping to produce rules for languages other than English, French or German, please get in touch with me, otherwise we will have to wait for official language partners at some point in the future to handle this cost and effort.

I should have more information on the timeline for delivery VERY soon. Stay tuned!

Thanks again!

Essen Speil bound!
over 5 years ago – Tue, Oct 23, 2018 at 01:51:44 AM

Hi Heroes!

This is my last update before I fly out to Essen tomorrow. I'm super excited for what is the board game highlight of my year and can't wait to meet as many of you as I can. I thought I would try to make it easier for those attending to find the Wonderment Games booth as possible. We will be at the very far end of the convention center in Hall 6, Booth B116. See image below:

Nothing new to report production-wise. Looking forward to showing you guys the game! Here's a goofy pic of me with the PPC I am bringing with me to Spiel:

Before I sign off and get finish the last few prep items I need to take care of before flying out I wanted to give a mention to two campaigns currently on Kickstarter that are being run by personal friend's of mine.

Overtime!

The first is designed by my friend Pavle who I met my first year at Spiel back in 2015. We both had tables in the "workshop" area and he had some very fun and original games there. I am very excited that he finally has one of his games "Overtime" on kickstarter now. While I haven't played it yet (I plan to meet up with him at Spiel to play it) based on what I know of the work of Dazbog its going to be loads of fun and very original. I would very much appreciate it if you have it a look on Kickstarter:

Stonebound Saga: Visions of Telios

The Second game I want to mention is an expansion to a game that some of you may be familiar with. Its being run by my friend Eric Bitterman and his team at Sky Kingdom Games. "Stonebound Saga: Visions of Telios" is an expansion to Stonebound Saga a game that was on Kickstarter when Quodd Heroes was. Its a very fun card-based competitive arena combat game that I have played and liked quite a bit. They have just 3 days to go and are now funded and unlocking stretch goals. Please give them your support!

That's all for now. I'll be posting an update during Spiel and I will also be posting to social media: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram during the convention.
